Default vans tach transducer

i've been reading on old threads about how to feed tachometer data to the Dynon EMS. I have one Mag and one Lightspeed, and ideally would like to have the tach work regardless of which is firing. Apparently Vans' Tach Transducer will work. I presume this is the one I want:
IE VTACHGEN 2 (i have no vacuum pump on my engine).

QUESTION - how does this thing work? how does it get installed?

Default It mounts on the tach drive hole.

...and gets spun by the gears, sending pulses to the gauge.

Ahhh... didn't know there was such a thing. Where abouts is this on a typical O-320?

The tach drive is top center on the accessory case. Depending on which oil filter adapter you have, either connect the vtachgen with the supplied adapter or purchase the 12" extension cable from Vans and mount the vtachgen on a nearby engine mount tube.

Mount it on the side of the FW recess, it's better for the cable.........

I know a -7 builder who ran his vtachgen extension cable through the firewall so as not to bend/flex it. It's a clean looking installation, too.
