Default Easier border crossing procedures...

...thanks to the EAA's efforts. This according to EAA:

TSA and DHS Announce Merging Border Flight Crossing Procedures
September 10, 2009 ? In an effort to reduce the security paperwork burden of international travel, two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies announced that they have merged their border security programs. The Transportation Security Administration?s (TSA) International Waiver program will be folded into Customs and Border Protection?s (CBP) Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS), following a commitment made at EAA AirVenture 2009 by TSA?s new General Aviation Manager, Brian Delauter, and CPB?s APIS Program Manager, Eric Rodriguez to collaborate improving the border crossing procedure for general aviation pilots.

Currently, two DHS programs require the same information to cross the border such as flight route, passenger and crew manifest and pilot certificate number. The merger will allow pilots to only complete the CBP electronic APIS paperwork to fly across the U.S. borders. EAA, which has advocated for a less onerous system, has prepared a guide on how to navigate the current requirements until the new process is finalized.

Regards,
