Default Aileron trim handle

I have the standard flat steel Van's aileron trim handle. Has anyone done anything to dress it up? I am thinking of installing a shiny aluminum pcs over it to make it look better. Since it is not a structural item I may just glue it on. If anyone has pictures of what they did I would like to see them.

Thanks

Frank,
I have the art work my son used to put
a label on our aileron trim. It's a couple
of small TIF files. My handle is mounted
pointing up.

I don't know how to post pictures on VAF,
but would be glad to attach them to an
email.

Lightbulb Black round ball for aileron trim lever...

Hi Frank, I used the black ball that comes with the Vans rear throttle kit to dress up the end of the manual aileron trim lever. It's available from the 'list' on the Vans web store.

http://vansaircraft.com/public/parts.txt

The part number is: BLACK QUADRANT KNOB $8.00

The slot cut in the ball fits the trim lever perfectly, its very light and looks 'old school' (which I think is a good thing).

Hope this helps.

Default save the work

I'm a somewhat average size guy with a 34" waist. With a passenger in the right seat, that trim handle is buried under 2 thighs. On the ground, the trim handle cannot be seen by passerbys unless they climb up on the wing and peer down between the seats. And 3, if the plane is built square, you'll hardly ever touch the thing in flight.

my $.02,
Steve

PS
gotta admit though, the black knob in the curved slot does look slick.
