Default Swift Fuel at OSH

I just got back from KLAF (Purdue Univ) and was visiting with Charlie Holleman as he was preparing his RV-4 for the trip to OSH on Swift fuel. Charlie's plane was the first airplane flown with Swift fuel. Charlie will be flying up with Brian Stirm and the plane will be at the Swift fuel display in the Learning Center.

((Sorry, I posted this before I saw the other post on this same subject))

Yep, they seem like good folks and I truly hope they can spell "relief" for our aviation fuel.

Will they have a booth there, or are they just providing fuel for someone to fly up there?

Default Swift fuel is in RV-4

Charlie's RV-4 will be flying on Swift fuel. They will have a display with the airplane in the learning center. The guys had me "sniff" the tank and it does not have the same smell as aviation fuel. I cann't quite figure out what it does smell like but it is less pungent and does not smell like a petroleum product. On their web site they have the powerpoint presentation that they will be showing at OSH.

Here is a video of the first flight with Swift fuel.

Oooh! I know!

It smells like old-fashioned nail polish remover (mostly acetone). Your wife probably has some in the medicine cabinet or beneath her sink.

Makes sense, since their fuel is an acetate-related molecule.

I don't know what it smells like, but it tastes like chicken.
