Default Control cables through cabin heater box???

I have an IO360 with vertical induction on my RV7A. Vans drawings have the throttle and mix cables passing through the firewall and then through the removable panel hatch on the cabin heat distribution box (the unheated section of the heater box). Neither of my cables wants to pass through that removable panel on my setup without serious kinks in the cables.

My throttle cable in particular wants to pass through the heater box in the upper segment (where the cabin heat exhausts). My question is whether that heated area is likely to have any detrimental effect on the throttle cable over time. My guess is that it's not likely to be that much more detrimental to the longevity of the throttle cable than the throttle cable being in the lower FWF cowl compartment.....but I'd like to know if anyone has more experience with this configuration.

So does anyone out there with actual flying experience have their throttle (or mix) control cables passing through the upper heated section of the heater box...any adverse effects noted.

On my RV-7 I placed my throttle and mixture cables through the lower corners of my firewall recess and eliminated the pass through the removable panel. Don't know if you have this option or not. I have a Superior forward induction.

Default Go through Firewall recess, Vans positions suck!

Hello,

I have an O-320 with fuel injection, so it may be a little different to your O-360. But, just Like Rocky, I passed the throttle and mixture cable through the firewall recess and plugged up the hole that I had already made as per Vans plans. I am not flying yet, but this sure looks better (no visible cables under the panel) and it looks to me that the cables are more in a fluent line. Also it was easier to route them FWF and keep them free from all other components, wires, cables, etc.

Regards, Tonny.
