Default oil pressure fittings

I have a slightly used O320 for my 7a. It has a fitting already installed and capped which is where the pressure port should be. I think it is the Vans 128 fitting. I do not have the firewall forward kit, and am seeking information on what fitting to use for my pressure sensor. I have a vdo sensor. Also what type of hose should be used to connect to the manifold. Thanks in advance.

Default Van sells...

...a modified AN823-4 fitting. It has a restrictor plug pressed into the steel fitting. Van's p/n is "VA 128"

Default A tip

Vans supplied a 45 degree modified fitting as described above...Works fine as long as you NEVER want to take the thing off again with the engine in place..On the 360 at least the fitting is too close to the engine mount to make this a pleasant experience.

A better way is to go buy a straight fitting (your local hydraulics shop sell them) its a 1/8th NPT on one end and a -2 JIC on the other. If you want the restrictor function simply braze the npt end closed and drill a #40 hole through it.

Now you have a restrictor fitting that can be installed with a 1/2" deep socket..This saves a good 30 minutes frustration if you ever have to remove and re-install it.
