Default Pre-buy Inpsection, Champaign Illinois Area

I am looking for someone convenient to this area that can look at an RV3 project for me. My interest is in the build quality specifically the sheet metal. RV3's required a lot of manual rivet layout and build quality varies widely.
So, need someone who knows what they are looking at in the 3 or older 4/6 type of construction.

Default Couple Options / thought starters?

option #1 - look up the local EAA chapter and call their prez or tech advisor and ask to see if they have that experience locally and I bet they'd help in a minute.

Option #2 - I am with in an hour flight or less. However, I am no expert on the new stuff let a lone the old stuff. I have built a -10 tail and am starting a -8 - that's it my friend but I'm happy to help.

Mike

Default FYI ...

The Bloomington, IL Chapter 129 has at least six active Vans builders and two rated tech counselors. I suspect there maybe more expertise available there than from Champaign. I live between Champaign and Bloomington and joined the latter Chapter cuz of the active builders. Lotsa help in E Central IL, whatever you decide to do.

Default Can do structural inspection

I live in Lafayette, IN and can fly over to Champaign (1/2 hr) to do an inspection if it is at the airport. I built an RV-6 that required manual rivet layout and I am a Mechanical Engineer. Let me know if I can help you.
