Default Mix and match Stratoflex and Aeroquip hoses and fittings?

I am not clear if the Stratoflex 156 and Aeroquip 601 hoses are equivalent - so my question is: Is it OK to use Stratoflex 156 hose with Aeroquip 601 Hose fittings (Aeroquip 816 and 8891 fittings) and conversely Aeroquip 601 hose with Stratoflex filttings (676, 678 and 680 fittings)?

Or, must I ensure I use the same manufacturer's hose and fittings together?

Default A bit of a risk

Most manufacturers recommend that you use only their hose and fittings. If you mix hoses and fittings you are taking something of a risk. It might be OK, but it might not. It might be manufacturers covering their 6 o'clock, but there might be something in it. I don't know for sure. Is it worth the risk? Your call.
