Default good taildragger instructor in Texas

Just got my tailwheel endorsment from Ken at Promark Aviation in Burnet, TX.
Very nice guy. Used his supercub with o-320, tundratires, and VG. Open air space with many different grass strips and cow pastures. He has a guest house in the country very close to the airport you can rent. Nice couple of days with the wife. Highly recommend.

Default How many landings?

Eric,

I want to do exactly what you did and get it over a 3 or 4 day period. How many landings did you do all together?

I didn't count the landings, but probably 30-40. I had a couple hours in a J-3 with a friend the previous months. He stated it usually takes 7-9hours to get the endorsment.

The figure of 7-9 hours seems right, less if you're a quick learner.

As for the number of landings .... are you counting only 1 landing per approach? No, I'm not talking about bounced landings , but when I got some tailwheel time, we would make an approach, make one landing, advance the throttle, get about 50 feet up, flare and land again, and repeat that as many times as we could. It really helped with learning the 3-point attitude and where to flare.

Another great exercise is to get in a fast taxi with the tail up, then have the instructor stomp one of the rudders and have you correct. You learn fast that way
