Default Slick Mag Removal and Reinstallation

I need to remove and replace the L & R Slick mags (4300 series) on my RV-8 (O-360-A1A) to replace the gaskets between the mags and the accessory case. I have set engine timing before, but never removed and replaced a mag. I have a Slick timing pin. So.....what method is used to remove a mag, and then replace it after the gasket is changed?

Today, I removed the harness from the cover on the left mag, and found I could insert the timing pin all the way in when the flywheel #1 TC mark was at the 6 o'clock position. This does not seem right, but then WTHDIK? That's why I posted the question

Is there a PDF available that explains how to do this?

Thanks

Default another source of info

RV 10 builder Tim Olson took the sacremento Skyranch instructions and made them a little more user friendly for the novice (me):

Gil, thanks for your help. I was able to remove and replace the mags and install the new gasket with no difficulty. Re-timed to 25 deg and the engine runs great and the minor oil leaks are gone. Thanks again.
