Default Grease for the Wheels

Does everyone use the grease recommended by Cleveleand for packing their wheel bearings, or do you use wheel bearing grease from Napa? I have always packed my bearings with Stalube, but maybe I should use the recommended (more expensive) airplane bearing grease. Currently the Cleveland manual recommends Aeroshell grease 22 or Mobil Aviation Grease SHC 100.

Default Aeroshell 5

Brent,
My understanding is that Aeroshell 5 is typically used for GA a/c wheel bearings. Aeroshell 22 is an even higher spec grease (even wider temp range) also designed for use on wheel bearings.

See here:

Steve

p.s. Aeroshell 5 is mineral oil based. Aeroshell 22 is synthetic. Thus probably not a good idea to mix them.

Any good EP grease works better than the antiquated Aeroshell #5 or #6.

Default Synth grease

I've had Redline CV2 synthetic grease cure wheel bearing, cv joint, blah, blah, pretty much kick butt stuff for everything but correcting my poor omelet-flipping technique. It's non-av stuff, but it works.
