Default Fiberglass

I have been reading the tips in fiberglassing forums and I found a number that said we need to use west systems on the tips when filling the ends.

It is my understanding we were to use West Systems on cowl and non gel coat fiberglass, and polyester resin in the gel coat glass, because the gel coat fiberglass uses polyester.

Can someone confirm this for me?

Carl,
For structure, epoxy on epoxy/glass composites, epoxy or polyester on polyester/glass composites. Remove the gel coat prior to any structural bonding.

If "filling the ends" means correcting cosmetic surface issues (fairing adjacent surfaces, divots, and low spots), the same rules apply for fillers.

For pre-paint surfacing, polyester primer-surfacers are not well regarded. Old tech, better choices available.

Default Thanks Dan

I guess I did not need to spend $30.00 on everclear resin since I already use West systems.

This is how we learn.

Again, Thanks

I sort of like EverCoat FeatherFill, but it's a polyester one catalyzed with MEKP.

What are some newer tech, but just as easy to use as FeatherFill, choices?
