Oshkosh Notam

Since there have been several threads started on Oshkosh, I thought it's never too early for anyone flying into the big show for the first time to start familiarizing themselves on the notam.

Good post.

One of the things our EAA chapter has started doing for OSH and SnF is to host a NOTAM review the week before each of the shows.

One or two people who have flown into the shows walks through the NOTAM, what to expect in the air, on the radio, and on the ground. We also review the things you will want to bring, things to do while there, etc.

In addition to all that, we always discuss what flying skills should be sharpened before arrival. (Slow flight, spot landing, cockpit organization, etc.)

You can sign up to have the FAA mail you one before OSH in a booklet form. It is a nice size to have in the plane.

Absolutely right. Practice your slow flight.

And never ever do anything (in the plane) that you have not done before! Control your emotions and fly the plane with the same (or more) cautiousness you do at your own airport. If the controllers ask you to do something you cannot do COMFORTABLY do a go around and start over.
