Default has anyone wire tied fuel line fittings?

I noticed on some of my fuel lines there was a hole drilled in the fitting, almost as if to be a starting hole to drill partially through the fitting and then wire tied. Any thoughts folks?

Is it a hose end for braided line? If so, look close at that hole, usualy is has had an aluminum wire pressed in there and that is the retainer to hold the assembly together. Typicaly you only see these on swivel fittings. This may (or may not) be what your seeing.
