Forward bag hold for battery

I am building an 8 and am concerned with water coming in around the baggage door and affecting the electrics if located in the forward baggage bin. Does the bag door seal real good or are you putting a cover over the recess where the components are installed. I've anguished over bat location long enough and must get off the dime. Thanks Ron
