Default Sticking vertical compass card

I have one that is about 20 years old but never used. It does not work properly and the manufacturer charges about the same price as a new one to fix it.

Has anyone taken one apart and fixed it? I probably will do it anyway since I have nothing to lose.

Default Yep........

....it's a very simple device. I opened mine because it plain quit working....apparently the magnet lost its magnetism and it was not repairable. If yours is just sticking, a needle and a drop of synthetic oil may just be all you need.

I found out on here that my 496 might be the culprit.

Regards,
