Manual trim cable binding

Fellow builders:

I am trying to tweak my manual trim cable where it mounts to the access cover in the elevator. I had to move where the welded tab/nut is mounted forward to attain enough down trim. In doing that, I get a significant amount of resistance to full down elevator travel when I apply force at the elevator, due to the manual trim cable trying to make the bend to accomodate the elevator deflection.

I can push the elevator down to full throw, release it, and the elevator trim cable flexes and brings the elevator back to neutral. I can sense a bit of resistance with the stick in full down, but not so much that I really have to put a significant more amount of force to overcome it in comparison to full up elevator.

If I move that tab/nut more aft, then I really lose out on down elevator trim. Up trim is not an issue, just down.

Anyone else have to deal with this?
