What's the optimum values for CHT, EGT, oiltemp and oilpress on a IO-360?
Hi.
My Extreem IO-360 had just passed 50 troublefree hrs and is broken in.
Since I'm about to start X-country flying, I'm wondering what the optimum values for CHT, oiltemp and oilpress are?
I realize that the values can vary alot with powersetting, OAT etc, but I'm wondering if it's any numbers which are "better" for the engine than others?
For example:
Is CHT at 400'F better than 350?
Is oiltemp at 210 better than 180?
What is the ideal oilpress?
Is it any "ideal EGT" or will EGT just end up where it ends up after proper leaning?
Maybe this is a stupid question and maybe there's too many variables for a simple answer, but it'd nice to hear from you engine-experts out there...
Thanks.

Hi Olav..
1. Both temps are OK.
2. Both temps are OK.
3. Around 75psi.
4. EGTs will vary with OAT and power settings...they are what they are.
Regards,

And will also vary with probe placement.

TEMPS
What I personally like to see is;
400f CHT max hot day, hard climb, full rich.
325f CHT 65% pwr, lean at OAT 50f +or-
1650f EGT max, but at reduced power for cruise, 1450f
Oil temp min 170f and 220f max, but 180 to 190 is ideal
In cold weather (15f OAT) I only see a CHT of 265f or less. I think that is too cold. Also at the same OAT my oil runs 145f, that's way too cold. In the winter I almost totally block off my oil cooler and that helps. Now at the same OAT I run about 170f.
