Default Best cruise altitude software

Hi folks,

While wasting time doing stuff other then building my RV I found a cool program on the x-plane website...and thought I would share.

With this program all you need to get where you are going with the least fuel cost is Dan C's web page and this program. Take the data from Dan's page and put it into this program along with info on your plane and presto... I have not tried it in flight yet but it should work. Oh yeah and the program is free

Enjoy.

Default Cool

I run into this at work. When flying and deciding what is the best altitude you need one key piece of data that is not always available, actual winds at other altitudes. The flight plane was done with forcast and best altitude based on weight, trip distance and weather (winds).

We can ask ATC for other aircraft PIREPS for winds, but many times none is available. We know the winds at our altitude but unless you have actual winds, you don't know if it's worth climbing or descending. George
