Default What does this orange splotch mean on my cylinders?

I just hung my engine the other night and I'm getting ready to do a quick rattle can overhaul on it. It has been previously rebuilt and each cylinder has orange paint marks on them. What do they mean? Should I maintain them after I paint the engine?

Thanks
