Default Long Term Project

You know you've been working on your RV project for a long time when:

* You find pictures of your son where he has trouble seeing the top of the work bench and now his shoes are bigger than yours.

* You order new clecos and are shocked at how bad your original ones look.

* You see pictures of yourself when you first started the project and now you look like your grandfather, living proof that dinosaurs once ruled the earth.

* Your tail-kit drawings look like the Declaration of Independence.

Any takers?

You start reading some of the stories on the newspaper that parts are packed in - it all seems so long ago.

There is a wasps nest around one of the engine mount tubes in the attic (lucky you discovered that in the winter)

You wonder what people are talking about when they say "take the plastic off first"

More to come I'm sure

You know it's been a long project when:

Your 15 year old daughter who helped rivet the top wing skins has now been out of college for almost 7 years and is married.

You had no gray in your early build pictures and now you only have gray.

Your youngest was only a toddler when you started and he had already soloed a glider and is old enough to get his power license when you finished.

It is kind of depressing if you think about the whole project all at once, and how much more there is to do... focus on the task at hand. It's hard to believe that I'm 3 years into it already, with probably 3 to go... not long to some I know, but at least it's been fun.

Speaking of tasks, Smitty, you need to get out in the garage. I've passed you and now I don't know what to do.

* The second grader that held the elevator skins open while you riveted stiffeners is now a freshman in college.... and you're still building the first tank.
