Hi Phil,
At this point I would start pulling a 60 grit piece of sand paper between the cowl halves. Work it front to back until you get a close fit between the sides. The side cowl pins slide all the way to the back and the lower side pin keeps the lower sides close. This means that the top will have to stay close and you shouldn't need a screw.
