Default A Baffleing Question

In Vans directions for baffel instalation they show a AN4-15A bolt to hold part #6 to the crankcase. Why such a long bolt?

You need to put a spacer between the baffling and the engine case in that particular area so as to not stress the baffling by pulling it too tight against the engine. I don't remember, but there might be a piece of 5/16" or 3/8" tubing for that purpose.
