OIL filter & drain options

Oil change coming up....time to put on a spin-on filter and drain.
I've ordered the Fumoto drain T-202N for my 0-320, thanks to comments here.
which spin-on works best? Van's (Casper)? can I install myself without screwing up the Vernatherm? I've never even had the oil screen apart, so expect springs to fly out etc.
any words of wisdom? thanks!
