Default Where can I get custom Placards

To complete my instrument panel, I'm looking for a vendor who makes up custom placards. In example, I like the style of the silver/aluminum style placard with black lettering and a black border around the edge that's sold by Spruce and others. The stock Spruce placard speaks to aerobatics. That's the style I'm looking for, but with the text that addresses the instruments in my panel.

If you know of a vendor who makes these placards up for a reasonable price, please forward.

Thanks.

Default Aluminum Placards

Drooling over the photos of a outstanding P-51B restoration in the October 2008 issue of "Flight Journal" my curiosity peaked. Attention to minor detail was carefully addressed and its various cockpit placards especially caught my eye thus leading me to this question:

Does anybody know where I can have custom aluminum placards made to my specifications?

You are right Rick, a well laid out, professionally placarded panel really dresses the plane up.

Any good trophy shop can make custom placards. I've used the local shop for decades. They can even do artwork, (add an RV silhouette) many different colors, edges, etc. Here is an example of a placard I had made. It is under the radio stack. It is actually covering up an extra panel hole. I used clear silicone to hold it in place.

These guys are local, but can do stuff over the phone also, but I'm sure St. Louie has a good trophy shop.

Good luck.

Default Aircraft Engravers

Aircraft Engraver does excellent work at reasonable prices and Wayne is great to work with. They mostly do lexan placards but they also engrave metal data plates. It would probably be worth giving them a call to see if they could do want you want.

These guys - http://turbineair.com/ have a graphics department in west Texas (SJT) that does excellent work. They've got a laser engraver, vinyl cutter, 60" full color printer, you name it. Good prices, great work. Call Byron at 214-649-2289.

Rick, you might check with your local trophy shop - I was surprised at all the different things they could do! I engine turned a small placard and had it engraved for a toolbox kit I built for my cousin. Albeit, this is one of the simplest things the trophy shop can do.

Also try http://frontpanelexpress.com. Good work and very quick turn times. Not the cheapest though.

Here's an example: http://adap.com/images/P6030111.JPG

Curious if there is someone out there making custom Placards for the panel. Such as N number and switch placards. Thanks, Scott
