Default GMA340 Wiring

This is an audio panel question, couldn't find a better place to ask so here goes. I want to connect my Angle of Attack audio warning to my GMA 340 unswitched and unmuted Altitude Warning input. There are two wires inside a shield for this. One is all white, and one is white with a dark stripe. One is for signal input and the other is labeled "return" on the wiring diagram.

Is there a convention in this situation as to which is the signal input?

The wiring diagram did not label the colors so I don't know which is return and which is for the input signal.

Also, does "return" in this case meaning ground?

This stuff is crazy to me. Hi and low meaning positive and negative had me going for a while... Obviously I am not an EE nor do I have much experience with this type of wiring. The information provided is very limited and seems to assume I am a professional...
