Default Garmin 696 Cable Shortage
Garmin's site says 5-8 weeks wait for shipment of the power/data cable. If you intend to have your new toy talk to anything else, you need this cable accessory, and it's not included in the box.

I got one of the first 696's when they became available and immediately ordered the power/data cable. Just received it this week after a wait of about a month.

I ordered mine two weeks ago from Aircraft Spruce; but it was back ordered. It arrived yesterday.

The good news is that it looks to be much better designed than the 396/496 cables - Less likely to come apart when you unplug it....
