Default Measuring Elevator Travel

I am trial fitting the elevators to the HS and need to know the best ways to measure the elevator travel. I see some talk about "smart levels" (?) and protractors. Any info will help.

Thanks,
John

Default Sears has reasonably priced laser level

I purchased a small (smart level type) laser level at Sears. I believe I paid about $25 on sale. It works great for ailerons, elevators and longerons. It has a zero feature that allows you to place the flight controls in a neutral position and zero the level on that reference. Just read the deflection and set the stops accordingly.
