Appropriate cotter pin size

Can anyone tell me what the appropriate cotter pin diameter is for AN3, AN4, AN5, and AN6 bolts respectively? I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that I should use the largest diameter cotter pin that will fit through the drilled hole on the bolt (?).
