Default -7/9 Gear Legs

Does anyone know if the main gear legs for the -7/-9 are the same for the trike main gear legs? Are the sweep angles the same as well?

Thanks,

Jim

Or call Van's, they will know since they designed them.

The easy way is to check the part number on the gear legs. If you are building a -9 and the gear leg part number starts with a 7, they are same, if it starts with a 9, chances are they are unique to each plane.

FWIW, the gear legs for the tail draggers are all different.

Looking to build a convertable? I have wondered if it were possible ala Sportsman 2+2 style.

Default convertible gear

I saw that Sportsman 2+2 video also that demonstrates going from tail dragger to nose dragger style. Looked very slick indeed.

I know Vans converted the RV-7 demonstrator plane to an RV-7A at some point but that was a permanent change.

Jim - if anyone can figure this out, assuming that's your plan, my money is on you!
