Default drilling the right holes into the canopy & frame. What a confusion !

I drilled all the canopy into the frame of my RV8, everythings went well.

But now :

- plans say to enlarge the holes in the canopy with a plexi drill bit to #27.
I saw in the forum that a lot of builders do this with a 5/32 unibit.

I can order a #27 plexi drill bit or let's go for a larger 5/32 drill bit ?

A larger hole can help future cracking ?

What's better in your experience ?

Thanks in advance

Default #27 plastic bit

Use the plastic bit, the unibit may grab & crack the plexi when enlarging. The purpose of the over size hole is to prevent cracking when you pull the pop rivets. The rivet will exspand when pulled. Be sure to use the correct pop rivet for the plexi, which is the AACQ 4-4 aluminum ring shank, " I believe". Check your plans.

Actually Unibits work great in acrylic. The cutting action is basically the same as that of a plexi bit only it is able to make larger holes.
