Default 8 Windshield?

Canopy skirt ready to rivet. What kind of sealant should I use before riveting & it needs to be paintable. Also will the same sealant/adheasive work on the windshield to fuse before I glass it in? Suggestions please!

You don't really need to apply sealant prior to riveting the canopy skirt into place although proseal will work perfectly in that application, provides an ideal moisture barrier, remains relatively flexible, and accepts paint well.

What I did after riveting the skirt into place was to fill in the gap between the skirt and the Plexiglas by masking off the edge of the skirt and along the Plexiglas slightly above the skirt then shoving a mixture of West System epoxy and West 410 Fairing Filler (mixed into a rather loose slurry) into the gap. I then used a filleting spoon (a popsicle stick will work) to smooth out the filler around the skirt and then removed the masking tape. The end result is a consistent transition that will be eventually painted. West System epoxy products can and is used on all fiberglass parts by this builder and many others.

Whatever sealant you do decide to use....it almost goes without saying.....shun silicon. Using silicon in any form will make painting an impossible nightmare.
