Default What's up with this

I started riveting the ribs to my RV7 spar today. After I set the rivets I noticed these "marks" on the spar, they where not there before riveting. They look like a crack but The spar is absolutely smooth, do you know what this is? They are on all of the ribs I did. I am guessing that the rivet stretched the spar slightly and the anadized layer is cracked. All of the marks run parallel to the spar.

that's exactly what it is... the anodization cracking.

You'll probably be able to notice similar radial cracks around the -6 rivets that are set by vans.

Default RE:Still challenged

Randy

After 4 plus years (start 09/04/2004) of building I still get challenged with the next part of the project. Vansairforce, Van's help desk, builders web links.....many good ones on the Van's link....., a United Airlines retired AP has been my go to guy when ever for whatever, many helpers along the way, and last but not least the will to see the project to the end.

Just hang on and enjoy the ride as the RV grin is practiced with each new challenging skill is learned, each new kit ordered, each person that asks, "when will it be done", and those times you just stand back and look at what you are creating.

Good Luck in you Build.
