Aircraft Spruce- Awesome!
I just received an E-mail directly from Jim Irwin (president of Aircraft Spruce) offering to replace at no charge, the damaged 4130 plate my friend received over 2 years ago along with his apology for the way my friend was treated.
Jim DOES care and went out of his way to make this right PERSONALLY showing great integrity and character- sometimes rare commodities these day.
I'm impressed how Jim stepped up to the plate and showed other businesses out there how to do it when something doesn't go right.
Customer service doesn't get much better than this when the pres takes care of it.
Sins forgiven and I'll be happily buying again from ACS.

ACS has some folks who definitely care about what their customers think of them... I got a phone call today because they read something I wrote in the other thread about their customer service, and they asked if there was anything they could help me with. As luck would have it, yesterday I was down there returning something for RMA, and mentioned that, and they're going to make sure it gets pushed through and I get credited immediately.
The fact that they read the complaints and then took the time to correlate semi-anonymous internet posts with actual customers on record to try to make it good to us really speaks volumes about their dedication to customer service. Bravo ACS!

Spruce is convinient for me, if I order before 3 in the afternoon, I get it the next day via Fedex Ground. This is the biggest reason I deal with them.
Now if Jim could do something about the fact that their shipping charges are high as the moon, that would be great! For some reason the shipping department loves to split stuff up into more than one box and charge you twice for it even when there was enough room in the first box.

ACS has always been good to me and the fact that they monitor forum "noise" is just good business practice.
So....ACS, I know you are listening. This Saturday I will be flying up to FFC to pick up some plywood I ordered for my biplane project. I expect the wood to be ready and cut to my personal specs (+ or - 1/64). No cracks, knots, or termites.

What kind of rope do you use to tie a 4x8 piece of plywood to an airplane with?

I had a feeling this was coming.......I asked ACS to cut the wood to 2 pieces of 2x8 (leading edge ply). With my pax seat removed it fits nicely under the rudder pedals and extends into the baggage compartment where I can curl up any excess because it is only 1/16 thick. Unfortunately this doesn't work with the 10+ft spars and I had to drive up there to get them. (1.5 hours vs. 25 min flight).
I am not really saving any money by flying up there. It is just more fun to pick up new airplane parts using your "old" airplane.

Hey Bruce,
When you get that thing done will you be applying for an airworthiness certificate or a termite letter?
Probably a stupid thing to say since my next statement is a request to pick up a few things for me when you go to ACS. I'll call ya!

Will the Hatz have a Rotec Radial on it, or something more traditional? Just curious, because I've always had a hankerin for a Hatz!
Cheers,
