Baffle Seal Overlap Dimension?

This is for those of you with flying RV's. How far should the lower inlet seal overlap the forward aluminum ramp of the baffle? My baffle drawings show a gap between the cowl and ramp of 3/8 inch, but don't say how much of the rubber should be lying on the metal ramp. What has worked well?

Looks like about an inch or so is the norm. Thats where mine is. Keep checking it for chafing after you start flying, as you may find it takes a bit of trimming on the outer edges to minimize this.

.....and one other tip. When you start adding the rubber seal to the baffles, if you'll cut the roll of rubber across its narrow dimension, the seals will already have a curve that you install pointing inwards. This way you don't need to "train" them.
