Default Position light positioning

Hi, all... I'm thinking about the mounting location for my position/strobe combo. I have the Kuntzleman model pictured here: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...manStrobes.php

It seems like if I mount it as far down and aft on the wingtip cutout as possible, the top of the wingtip should block most or all of the strobe from being visible in the cockpit, while still meeting the FAA requirements. Is mounting it low worth considering, or does it not make a difference? Also, what distance between the strobe bulb and plexi is recommended?

Thanks...

-Rob
