Default Oil shelf life?

I have a case of AeroShell multi-grade (50w50 semi synthetic) that is about 10 years old. Does oil have a shelf life or can I use this old case?

Default Oil shelf life

Sid,

I read in GAN (General Aviation News) a couple of weeks ago that AeroShell 15W50 has a shelf life of 5 years.

I phoned a petroleum engineer friend working for Valero refinning about that. He says the main thing is the additives will settle out. His soulution to the problem is just shake the can vigorusly and use the stuff.

Makes sense to me
