Default Van's FAB (airbox) fitting to SJ shorty cowl

I've just finished installing the plenum and moved onto the FAB. I'm
using Van's airbox kit and I've got a question.

Van's instructions say that the top of the airbox (most forward part)
must be aligned with the top of the intake hole in the cowl. Mine
looks like it's sitting about 1-inch too low. I could possibly take up
half of that by bending the top of the aluminum plate, but I'll be
pretty much out of edge-distance on the airbox fiberglass housing.

Is there a better way to direct incoming air directly into the FAB? As it
sits now, a lot of the air will go over the top of the FAB and exit out
the back of the cowl.

Thanks!
