Default Baffle Seals

I'm starting into the baffle seals and can't figure this out - I've searched with no good answer. How high above the baffles should the seal material stand? My baffles are trimmed 1/2" below the cowl.

Default 2 inches

Baffle seal is cut 3 inches wide with 2 inches above the top of the baffle and 1 inch below.
