priming tank sealant

will priming cured tank sealant cause any problems in the future, like cracking or leaking. i am using napa 7220 rattle can. thanks

I submitted this same question to Van's some months ago. The response I got back was that it wouldn't hurt a thing.

In the jet world tank sealant is used for more than fuel tanks. It is used it on the edges of fairings, to fair a out the edges of windshields, to seal the gaps of access covers and nav lenses and to seal the cabin pressure vessel. It all gets primed and painted with rest of the plane. My experience is primer and paint will stick to sealant pretty well but not as good as metal. If the sealant gets primed painted before the sealant is completely dry the primer and paint will eventually will come off. I sprayed primer on the outside of my RV6 fuel tanks and the primer has adhered fine to the sealant.
