It was hot as blazes at West Houston Lakeside Airport (KIWS) this afternoon! A local group of RV'ers had been volunteered to bring their airplanes over for a gathering of children interested in aviation - a chance for the kids to see what homebuilt airplanes are like. The ramp was scorching, the sun brutal, as the crowd examined the two beautiful -4's, the Subie -7A, and my freshly cleaned -8 (nothing makes you get out the cleaner like knowing you're going to have people looking at the airplane!). Even with bottled water, I thought we were going to melt!
Fortunately, someone remembered to bring the Wilga "sunshade".....


It kind of reminds me of that shot of lions in Africa....
