Default Dead Reckoning Competition, 8.16.08

Hear ye. Hear ye.

EAA 309, Charlotte, NC, would like you to sign up for our competition on Sat., 8.16.08 at Lincoln County Airport (IPJ). We (Sam & John) have already reconnoitered the route and we think it will be not at all difficult. A summary of the event is detailed below. Please pass this info on to all EAA members.

Let John know at johnwigney@alltel.net if you wish to participate and he will send you the information package.
EAA 309 Dead Reckoning Navigation Competition
Time : 9:00 am, Saturday August 16th, 2008
Place : Lincoln County Airport, (KIPJ)

? Come and polish your navigational skills.
? Chart, stopwatch and compass only.
? No GPS and no VOR. (Any GPS and VOR panel instruments are to be taped over.) Waypoints will be provided on Friday evening, 8.15.08
? Route will be 100 to 150 nautical miles.
? Start and finish at KIPJ.
? No restrictions on Flight Planning. This can be done online if you wish with DUATS, AOPA Flight Planner, Flitesoft, etc. on Friday evening.
? $140 WORTH OF PRIZES. LUNCH PROVIDED. $25 entry fee/plane to cover costs.
The competition will be judged on the accuracy of
(i) elapsed time and (ii) fuel consumption versus the flight plan prediction. (The chapter scales will be used to determine fuel used.)
