So I've got the HS attached to the fuse, working on the VS and I happen to push down on the HS skin at the left outboard bay and -"poing"-, the skin pushed in noticeably. I had not noticed this when I finished the HS (so long ago...). The right side does this also, but not as bad.
I messed with it for a while and determined that while it takes very little pressure to push it in, it won't hold itself in. It springs back out immediately. So here are my thoughts...(in order of preference)
1. Do nothing. Aerodynamic pressure should "pull" on this skin instead of pushing down on it.
2. Fabricate a stiffener of some sort and try to insert it through the lightening holes and bond it to the inside of the skin.
3. Drill out the outboard rib and install a stiffener similar to those in the control surfaces.
4. Rebuild the HS.
