Default O-320-D2A

What is the difference between an O-320-D1A and an O-320-D2A?
Vans sells the D1A, but I'm looking at an overhauled D2A, will it still be compatible with my cowl etc?

Default TC Data Sheets

Do a search for 'type certificate data sheet' (TCDS) for the O-320. It's the FAA doc that will list operating limitations and differences by model.

EXPLAINED IN THE engine and prop section..........

D2A is the same as D1A but with fixed pitch propeller and 3/8" attaching bolts.

D2A can usually be turned into a D1A (constant speed version) for about $300 in parts if you bought your D2A from Aerosport, or about $500 in parts if you did not.

The information I have on this is a little different. D2A has solid crankshaft, D1A has hollow crank. To convert D2A to D1A, you need to at least swap out the crankshaft, which is at least an order of magnitude greater in cost than your parts quote above.
