Default The Move

The first time I moved an airplane, I obsessed for days how I was going to accomplish the task safely. This time around, after Nationair assured me the move would be covered by builders insurance, I simply made a phone call to Budget Towing and waited for the truck to arrive. The excited driver, cautioned not to allow chains to touch the airplane begged me for photographs of his first airplane move. The ensuing spectacle unfolding in our surburban neighborhood sure drew a lot of attention from neighbors, passing cars and joggers and that part of the move kept my wife Linda busy answering questions by those bold enough to approach. As fate would have it, the same truck was used though a different driver was at the wheel when Darla! was moved some 4 years ago. The cost for the 15 mile relocation was then $100, now $145.

Very cool. Did you put any speed restrictions on the driver?

Just noticed you were in Lake St. Louis!

I lived in O'Fallon for a while. My job is near spirit. What airport did you move it to?
