Tip: Tip up latch bearing blocks too tight?

If your tipup latch bearing blocks are too tight, you can do the following to loosen them up:

Find a socket that is just larger than the diameter of the pocket cut by Van's in the bearing block. Heat the bearing block up with a heat gun or hair dryer. Insert the socket into the block while it is warm. Let it cool completely and then take some pliers and pull the socket out.

Worked great for me. Originally these were so tight I had to beat them on and off with a hammer.

Also make sure there are no burrs on the metal tube.

I had a similar problem and a bit of sandpaper made them loosen up (though be careful to clean any grit out of the nylon when you're done). Once they were installed and the latch rotated a bunch of times, they loosened up a bit more.
