Default Garmin data power cord.

Does anyone know if the handheld Garmin 296 data power cord really needs to be shielded?

Default Not IMHO

I don't shield it on my 496 and did not on my 296 before that. If there was an issue I did not notice it. I'm using GRT instruments, btw. so the magnetometer is way aft. But the one in the autopilot seems OK and that's not far away.
