Default Hybrid ignition

I selected 2 P-mags for my original ignition sources for the IO-360 on my RV-7. I have not had good luck with them and recently had engine failure on takeoff due to a p-mag that did not fail 'gracefully'. I am now installing a Slick mag in one position and would like to know of the possible pitfalls and lore with such an arrangement. My airplane currently has 140 hours. I've had signficant p-mag issues (sent equipment back to factory) about evrery 20-25 hours.

Well, get an impulse coupled mag, put on the left p-lead. That is an industry standard. I would also suggest putting the mag to the top plugs and the EI to the bottom. The hotter spark and bigger gap in plugs for the EI will help prevent fouling.
