Default I got the upgrade to v3.1 of the software for the Garmin 430W

It doesn't come with a list of changes so I am not sure exactly what is new in this release.

The upgrade took about 15 minutes at my local avionics shop. He charged me $37.50 for the labor.

My settings and waypoints were preserved during the upgrade. The only thing that I have found that was not preserved was the setting for screen contrast. After the upgrade the screen was nearly impossible to read until I changed the display>contrast up quite a bit.
