Default Lancair crash FFZ Mesa

As most of you are probably aware, recently there was a tragic crash of a Lancair at FFZ (Mesa Falcon Field.) that took three lives.

Early (unofficial) word is that the aircraft had been fueled with JetA, and apparently it is not the first time for the particular fueler. A C-421 had also been fueled with JetA but the issue was caught before tragedy.

True or not, it is a wake up call to us all to pay attention.

Trust, but verify.

Didn't that happen to Bob Hoover 25+ years ago?

I fly out of FFZ. Several turbine powered Lancairs there. Easy mistake for a young or new lineman to make. Always supervise your refueling.

Default Required Labeling

I believe it's required to have fuel type/grade labeling at fill point......

We had it happen here in STL several years ago. A DC-3 was fueled at night with Jet A. It made it to I-70 just off the end of the runway.
